Yann Chave

Color: Good intensity with hues of purple and garnet. Nose: Fresh and velvety. Mouth: Rests on concentrated tannins, full of finesse. Long. Serve: At 18 degrees with red meats, giblets, stuffed rabbit, filet of doe, goat with pepper sauce, and cheese. Wine for long keeping.

Wine Spectator

Packed with black currant, fig and black cherry fruit, this is also very refined, with incense, graphite, mineral and spice notes helping to extend the long, silky finish. Has power and grace and should age beautifully. Best from 2008 through 2022.

Score: 93. —James Molesworth, June 30, 2007.

Wine Advocate

The 2005 Hermitage has an opaque color and hints of white chocolate intermixed with some meat juices, black cherry and black currant, high tannin, and undeniable minerality. This is a medium to full-bodied wine that needs 3-5 years of cellaring and should drink well for 15 or more years.

Score: 90. —Robert Parker, February 2008.
