Eredi Fuligni

Aged by regulations for four years, of which approximately two and a half are in wood, Fuligni’s regular Brunello di Montalcino also has optimal lasting characteristics but is destined for more immediate drinking. With its elegant combination of fruit and spicy aromas, the Fuligni Brunello is, in any case, the result of carefully selected grapes coming from low yields per hectare and is not produced in years when the quality of the harvested grapes is not suitable to maintain the high standards of the estate.

Wine Advocate

Fuligni’s gorgeous 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is unquestionably one of the stars of the vintage. Made in a style that captures elements of both traditional and modern styles, it presents a very attractive array of ripe red fruits, smoke, tar and tobacco and toasted oak on a firm, classically-built frame. While it isn’t quite as fresh as some of the other Brunellos from this part of the zone, its seamless texture and silky tannins make for a beautifully-balanced wine to enjoy now and over the next dozen years or so. This is just about as good as it gets in the tricky 2003 vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.

Score: 93. —Antonio Galloni, April 2008.

Wine Enthusiast

This is a modern and sweet-smelling expression of Brunello with aromas of allspice, ground ginger and candied fruit. Beyond those aromas are layers of chocolate and soft vanilla cream. The wine has loads of personality and a great, long finish.

Score: 91. —Monica Larner, May 01, 2009.

Wine Spectator

Perfumed and beautiful on the nose, with plum, cherry, chocolate and nutmeg. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Balanced for the vintage. Best after 2009.

Score: 90. —James Suckling, May 15, 2008.
