Domaine de Marcoux
Immediately after handpicking and the obligatory sorting of the grapes, the reds go through a traditional vinification: long fermentation on the skins from 15 to 18 days. Seventy-five percent of the grapes are crushed, the balance is put in the tanks whole. Usually three months later, wines are transferred into oak barrels for 6 to 12 months depending on the vintage. Every three months, the wines are racked in order to aerate and refine them.
Wine Spectator
Silky, perfumy style, with raspberry and red plum fruit carried by fine-grained tannins and backed by a tangy mineral note on the long, stylish finish. Should put on weight. Drink now through 2022.

Wine Advocate
The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape (16,000 bottles) is a sexy, open-knit style of wine for the Armeniers, with a deep ruby/purple color and a big, sweet, expansive nose of blackberry and black currants with some cherry liqueur, dried herbs, smoke, and licorice. The wine is delicious to say the least, but also elegant, pure, and well-balanced. It should drink nicely for a decade or more. As I have written in the past, for well over a decade this has been a totally bio-dynamically farmed estate. One of my favorite estates and reference points for Chateauneuf du Pape is that of Sophie and Catherine Armenier. Chateauneuf du Pape, which has made such an extraordinary qualitative renaissance over the last ten to fifteen years, is one of the appellations of France that has an unusual number of women running the show and producing superb wines, and Domaine de Marcoux is certainly one of them.

Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

Wines that are still in the barrel and have yet to be bottled. Futures offer the opportunity to invest in a wine before it arrives in our store.

Parker, Jr. Initially titled The Baltimore-Washington Wine Advocate the first issue was published in 1978. Accepting no advertising, the newsletter publishes in excess of 7,500 reviews per year, utilizing Parker's rating system that employs a 50-100 point quality scale.

Wine Spectator is a lifestyle magazine that focuses on wine and wine culture. It publishes 15 issues per year with content that includes news, articles, profiles, and general entertainment pieces. Each issue also includes from 400 to more than 1,000 wine reviews, which consist of wine ratings and tasting notes.
