Domaine Charvin
Words that come to mind in describing the style of Charvin’s wine would include at the top, silky, velvety, and smooth. There are no harsh or dry tannins and they are always impeccably balanced.
Wine Spectator
Lush and forward for the vintage, with dark currant and fig paste flavors backed by licorice, coffee, garrigue and braised beef notes. The long, smoky finish has a lingering touch of mesquite. The profile is black fruit, but the structure is remarkably elegant for the vintage, with lovely poise. Drink now through 2023. 2,500 cases made.

Wine Advocate
The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is superb, but it has to take a back seat to the 2006. Dark ruby with notes of underbrush, the seaweed wrapper nori, kirsch liqueur, and a bit of pepper and spice box, it is deep and broad, with outstanding concentration, moderately high tannin, and a nicely structured, pure mouthfeel. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2022. Laurent Charvin is carrying on as one of the most passionate, committed young vignerons of Chateauneuf du Pape and seems to go from strength to strength with his winemaking. I have recently been drinking my stocks of the 1998, and it seems to have hit that magical sweet spot in its evolution, although it has plenty of years to go.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
